Alphonese nodded then said “You realize I never get free handouts, and life is tough every day? No one likes loners; you get mistaken as rouges a lot. And it’s not a cake-walk living with me either.” He decided it was better to get it out in the open that way there’d be no questions or complaints. He sighed quietly and turned his head toward the sky, watching the snow fall, and allowing the tiny frozen flakes to land on his face and hair, it finally was snowing. And it was coming down quickly, it was going to be a harsh winter.

Valentine nodded in a serious fashion, “I understand, I’ll try to be helpful instead of a bother as well, but… I avoid fights if I can, so please don’t expect me to do that sort of thing, I will if I must, but I am a pacifist” he said, then looked down at his serene bow, “I can use my bow rather well though” he added, not wanting Alphonese to assume that he was useless for hunting and such. “What’s a cake-walk?” he asked, crossing his sleeveless arms.

“It’s a game, mostly played by humans where they walk around stepping on numbers to the beat of music, then the music is stopped and they draw a number out of a hat. The person standing on that number wins a cake.” He paused, thinking back to a child’s birthday party that we walked by on one of travels recalling the strange experience. “Good.” He said showing very little emotion, “I try to avoid conflict as well, but if necessary…” he pat the short sword that hung by his side with a grim smile on his face. “We’d better head to shelter, unless you’d like to lose a limb or two to frostbite?”

Valentine tilted his head to one side, “The cold doesn’t bother me much, but I suppose you know best,” he said, messing with his own hair out of habit once more. “Where to,” he asked, looking around, now that the rain had turned to snow, it was a bit easier to see his surroundings. “Humans are odd aren’t they, but I know a great recipe to make cake, why... I just remembered it, It’s a chocolate cake with fluffy white frosting, I remember it was delicious...” he said, eyes wide, like a child with candy, he had just remembered a little snip of his past.

He let out a bark-like laugh “One day, if we have a stove you will make me that cake, it sounds rather tasty. “ He licked his lips, feeling them beginning to chap. He began to trudge through the snow, “Don’t worry, it gets cold fast when standing still and you’re not dressed for it.” He pulled his sweatshirt off and tossed it over his shoulder to his new companion “Wear that.” His tone was commanding, he didn’t want his new acquaintance dying of severe frostbite. “We go as far as we want, I was thinking to the islands, but then it began to snow… So simply relocating in the caves will be fine. There will be more shelter too..” He nodded and waited for the blonde to catch up.

Valentine smiled and ran forward to catch up with his new companion, catching the sweatshirt that was thrown at him, “Of course I would! I love cooking!” he laughed, as he slid it over his silvery hair. Looking towards the mountains Valentine nodded, “Caves will be a good idea, and we could head to those islands another time, when the weather permits.” “You have my thanks, I suppose a scarf will not do for such weather” he said, looking down at the sweater, then to his scarf.
